Recap: Chicago vs. Detroit

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The current Chicago Blackhawks have accomplished something never done before in franchise history.

Nick Leddy scored with 2:15 remaining in overtime, lifting the undefeated Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at United Center.

Corey Crawford made 29 saves for Chicago, which is off to its best start in club history at 6-0-0.

"I think everybody deserves credit (for the start)," said Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville.

Leddy made it possible, beating Jimmy Howard from the left circle with a wrister.

The Blackhawks' special teams were also a contributing factor Sunday. They killed all six Detroit power plays, improving to 22-for-23 on the season, and Duncan Keith supplied a goal on the man advantage for Chicago.

The Red Wings are just 2-for-26 on the power play through the first five games.

Despite the setback, Detroit head coach Mike Babcock was pleased with his team's effort.

"I thought we had lots of opportunity," he said. "We skated hard and competed and got better as the game went on."

The Blackhawks capitalized on an early power play. With Kent Huskins serving a holding penalty, Keith let go a slap shot from the left faceoff dot that beat Howard on the short side 2:24 into the game.

Detroit pulled even when Johan Franzen fired the puck between Crawford's pads at the 4:30 mark of the third period.

Game Notes

The Blackhawks are 9-1-2 in the last 12 meetings in the series ... Chicago was 1-for-3 on the power play.
