Recap: Winnipeg vs. Toronto

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - Blake Wheeler had two goals and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-2, on Tuesday.

Nik Antropov added a goal and two assists for the Jets, who have won three of four. Kyle Wellwood had a goal and an assist, while Evander Kane also lit the lamp.

Ondrej Pavelec made 24 saves for Winnipeg, which avenged a 3-2 loss to Toronto on Feb. 7.

"I thought we had a lot of good games tonight from a lot of players. I thought guys played hard and weren't going to be denied," Jets head coach Claude Noel said.

Phil Kessel scored a pair of goals for the Maple Leafs, who have lost three in a row.

"We'll regroup and reset our group and go forward," Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle said.

James Reimer stopped 24-of-28 shots before being pulled in the third period. Ben Scrivens made five saves in relief.

The Jets drew first blood at the 6:06 mark of the first period. While on the power play, Antropov deflected Dustin Byfuglien's shot from the point.

Just 38 seconds into the middle stanza, Kessel stole the puck and went in on a breakaway to tie the game.

Winnipeg scored the next four goals to take a comfortable lead. First, Wheeler put home a rebound off Bryan Little's shot at the 1:03 mark.

Wellwood finished off a nice give-and-go play Byfuglien and Antropov at the 10:43 mark, then at 11:16 of the third period, Kane intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and went in on a breakaway and Reimer's exit followed.

Wheeler's second goal of the night came 1:37 later, as he took a cross- ice pass from Eric Tangradi and beat Scrivens to make it 5-1.

Kessel lit the lamp 21 seconds afterward to account for the final margin.
