Recap: Toronto vs. Winnipeg

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Zach Bogosian scored in the 10th round of the shootout as the Winnipeg Jets survived to take a 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

In the 10th round, Bogosian buried a wrister past the glove of James Reimer and into the right corner for the win.

"We do them a lot in practice but I'm not the greatest at them," said Bogosian. "I just wanted to come in with speed and make him back up a little bit before letting go with the shot."

Blake Wheeler scored twice while James Wright and Antti Miettinen added goals for the Jets, who have won three straight and five of six. Ondrej Pavelec made 28 stops in the win.

Joffrey Lupul returned to play after missing 25 games with a fractured right forearm and scored twice, while Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel also scored for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped their past five games.

Ben Scrivens started in net but was pulled after the second period for allowing four goals on 26 shots. Reimer played the rest of the game and stopped all seven shots he faced in regulation and overtime.

"That was an emotional roller coaster of a game we had," said Toronto head coach Randy Carlyle. "That made it very hard to have a clear vision of what happened. But, it seems like we hit these spots of games where we can't execute anything."

Lupul didn't take long to make his presence known as he scored just 1:32 in when Nazem Kadri picked off the puck along the right boards and fed Lupul, who sent a heavy backhand on net that fooled Pavelec.

In the second period, Winnipeg scored four straight, starting at the 5:29 mark when Nik Antropov chipped a pass from the right point down to the circle where Kyle Wellwood fed it to the low left side and Wright tipped it in for his first of the year.

It was a 2-1 game five minutes later as Dustin Byfuglien blasted a shot from the right point that was stopped and the rebound popped up before Miettinen whacked it in. A replay showed that Miettinen didn't hit it with a high stick and the goal stood.

The Jets scored just a minute and a half later when Scrivens misplayed the puck behind the net and Wheeler was able to backhand it in before the goalie could get set back up.

It was a 4-1 game with 4:31 to play in the second period as Wheeler's shot from the left wing was blocked, but he gathered the puck and wrapped it in from the right side.

Toronto, though, answered with a pair of goals separated by 25 seconds to cut the deficit to one heading into the third period.

The first goal came off a right circle faceoff win as Jay McClement won the puck back to Kulemin, who fired in a wrister with 1:25 to play in the frame.

Just 25 seconds later it was a one-goal game as a turnover deep in the Winnipeg end saw Kadri center it for Lupul, who snapped it in to make it a 4-3 contest.

The Maple Leafs then tied the game 5:50 into the third as Tyler Bozak hit Kessel with a pass down the right wing and Kessel was able to wrist the puck home for his 10th of the year.
