Recap: Los Angeles vs. San Jose

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Kyle Clifford had two goals to help the Los Angeles Kings take a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday in the back end of a home-and-home.

Justin Williams, Jarret Stoll and Dwight King all scored for the Kings, who snapped a two-game slide. Jonathan Bernier gave up two goals on 22 shots.

Patrick Marleau and Matt Irwin each had a goal for the Sharks, who have lost five of their last six.

"It was frustrating tonight, we had chances and we didn't score," said Marleau. "We didn't play well and need to be more consistent if we want to make the playoffs."

Antti Niemi gave up four goals on 18 shots and was lifted halfway through the second period. Alex Stalock gave up a goal on six shots in relief for the Sharks, who won, 4-3, at home on Thursday.

The Kings held a 2-0 lead after the first period as Clifford scored his first goal of the game at the 2:27 mark when he swept it in from the right circle. Williams scored at 12:19 when he got the puck on net from the left wing and it went off a Shark before heading home.

"We came out with a strong first period and got it going," said Clifford. "We got them on their heels and put it to them."

Marleau got the Sharks on the board 35 seconds into the second when he put home a rebound, but Bernier made the lead hold up with a glove save on a Tommy Wingels penalty shot at 7:58.

Stoll potted his fifth of the season when a shot by Trevor Lewis didn't go through, but it went off Stoll and he was able to backhand it in at the 11:15 mark.

Clifford cleaned up the rebound of a Dustin Penner break with 6:15 left in the second period and Kings' goal came with 1:04 left in the frame for a 5-1 advantage.

Irwin scored on the power play with under a minute to play to account for the final score.
