Recap: Anaheim vs. San Jose

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Sheldon Souray scored the winner with 6:39 to play as the Anaheim Ducks took a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Saku Koivu scored the other goal while Viktor Fasth made 25 saves for the Ducks, who have won three straight and four of five.

"We had a good team effort against a great team," said Koivu. "So far this season we're playing great in the third period. We're gaining confidence and playing better as a team."

Logan Couture had the only goal of the game for the Sharks, who were coming off a shootout loss to Nashville on Saturday, which was their first loss of the season. Thomas Greiss gave up two goals on 33 shots in the loss.

"It was a good, competitive game tonight," said San Jose center Joe Thornton. "We had the puck around the net, but it was tough getting it in."

The only goal of the first period went to San Jose with 1:52 to play in the frame as Andrew Desjardins sent a shot on net from the left boards that saw Couture put in the rebound.

Both goaltenders kept the puck out of the net in the second period as Greiss stopped 13 shots and Fasth turned away seven in the frame.

Anaheim caught a lucky break in the third to take the lead. Tommy Wingels held the puck along the left boards in his own end and tried to send it back the other way. However, it took a bounce off a seam in the boards and went out front where Koivu backhanded it home past a surprised Greiss to tie the game.

The Ducks then took a 2-1 lead with 6:39 to play as Souray's slap shot from the top of the left circle cruised through a screen.

From there, Fasth did the rest as he made 12 saves in the frame to help the Ducks hold on for the win.
