Recap: Philadelphia vs. Tampa Bay

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Tom Sestito recorded his first career two- goal game and Ilya Bryzgalov made 21 saves, as Philadelphia nipped Tampa Bay, 2-1, on Tuesday.

"I've got only one move, and I was hoping nobody else noticed that. I have to hand it to my teammates, who gave me great passes. It was like I had two breakaways," Sestito deadpanned after the game.

Jakub Voracek, Brayden Schenn, Max Talbot and Ruslan Fedotenko added an assist each for the Flyers, who posted back-to-back wins for the second time in the 2013 campaign.

Benoit Pouliot registered the lone score for the Lightning, who have lost two in a row since winning five straight.

Anders Lindback stopped 22 shots in the setback.

Bryzgalov came up big early in the third period, making a sweeping stop of a Ryan Malone bullet to keep his club on top by a goal, then knocked away a Cory Conacher offering by deflecting it away with the glove.

Things got a little tense when Conacher barreled into the Flyers' netminder with 8:11 played in the period, and Bryzgalov was briefly prone inside his own net before recovering during a stoppage.

"Well I guess you always want the call, you don't always get it," said Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette. "I don't know if there was concern, but I guess disappointment maybe. With calls some you get, some you don't."

Pouliot then roofed a shot from in close with 9 1/2 minutes left in regulation, left alone atop the crease to convert a Teddy Purcell dish.

But Sestito used the backhand once more to beat Lindback and put the hosts ahead, 2-1, only 1:41 later. This time, a Fedotenko pass sent the gritty winger in on goal.

Tampa failed to convert on a power-play chance with 4:50 remaining and Lindback was pulled for an extra skater inside the final 90 seconds. A Philadelphia holding penalty made it a 6-on-4 edge for the Bolts with 13.5 seconds to play, but time ran out on the visitors.

"I felt they had a lot of offensive zone time the first half of that game. So, we didn't have enough fresh legs to go on the offense. That's pretty much what happened," said Bolts forward Martin St. Louis. "But we fought back and Bryzgalov made some keys saves at key times. We just didn't get it done."

Following an atypical scoreless period between these clubs, Sestito's backhander from a Voracek pass slid between Lindback's arm and body and gave the Flyers a 1-0 edge at 4:25 of the second.

Seconds prior to the score, Bolts sniper Steven Stamkos was alone in the slot and rang his shot off the crossbar.

Game Notes

Sestito's last goal occurred Dec. 23, 2010, with Columbus against Vancouver. The 25-year-old upstate New York native also doubled his total career goal output ... Stamkos saw his eight-game point streak from the start of the season (7G, 9A) ended, a run which included a goal and assist in a 5-1 win vs. Philly in Tampa on Jan. 27 ... Lightning forward B.J. Crombeen left the game in the first period and did not return after being on the receiving end of several punches by Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo.

Buffs hoping to stampede way back to respectability

It's been more than two decades since the football team at the University of Colorado hoisted its one and only national championship trophy, and the program has struggled to remain relevant ever since.
