Recap: San Jose vs. Chicago

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Kane scored twice to help the Chicago Blackhawks take a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.

Marcus Kruger had a goal and an assist while Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw each scored for the Blackhawks, who have won two straight after dropping their previous two.

Corey Crawford gave up all three goals on 33 shots for Chicago, which has garnered at least one point in all 10 games this season.

Michal Handzus and Tommy Wingels each had a goal and an assist and Joe Pavelski had a goal for the Sharks, who have now dropped their past three games after opening the season with seven straight wins. Antti Niemi gave up four goals on 30 shots in the loss.

The scoring came fast and furious in the first period as the two sides each scored three times before the game was 12 minutes old.

San Jose opened the game with a goal from Pavelski as he beat Crawford with a wrister just 2:54 in, and Wingels made it a 2-0 game at the 5:18 mark on his first of the season.

Chicago got on the board just past the midway mark of the frame when a pass from the slot by Brent Seabrook went to the low right side and Saad swept it in for his first career goal.

The Sharks quickly got one back as Wingels sent a pass from the right point to the left wing where a skating Handzus beat Crawford with a wrister for a 3-1 lead.

Chicago, though, scored just eight seconds after that on a one-timer from Shaw off a feed from behind the net by Bryan Bickell and Kruger tied the game just 42 seconds after that with his stuffer.

In the second period, Andrew Desjardins caught Jamal Mayers over the middle with a shot to the head. That prompted a fight with Duncan Keith and when the dust settled, Keith was handed with two minors, a major and a game misconduct while Desjardins was given a major and match penalty.

"It was a terrible call," Sharks head coach Todd McLellan said. "I don't know if we're going to come back or not but at that point we're still in the game and we should have been on a 4-minute power play. That's a good hockey hit, but the linesman called it. No one else saw it."

The Blackhawks took a 4-3 lead with 8:08 to play in the middle frame. With the puck in the Sharks end, Jonathan Toews lifted the stick of Douglas Murray and stole the puck to the left of the net. He immediately sent it back over to the right side where Kane was hovering for a one-timer and his fifth goal of the year.

"He picked it from Murray and just fed me," Kane said. "I tried to get it on net. I think it hit the defenseman's stick and went to the other side. Lucky break on that one."

San Jose attacked in the third period in an attempt to tie the game, throwing 10 shots on Crawford, but he made the saves and Kane put the puck in the empty-net inside of a minute to play to seal the win.
