Recap: Ottawa vs. Carolina

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Jay Harrison's tally with 2:41 remaining in overtime lifted Carolina over Ottawa, 3-2, at Scotiabank Place.

"We hung in there and found a way to get it done," said Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller. "We just regrouped after the second. Had some adjustments to make, and thanks to the goaltending of Cam, it made a big difference."

Harrison followed up a Jordan Staal shot, and, while diving at the right post, managed to flip the puck under the crossbar for the game winner.

Chad LaRose and Alexander Semin also scored for the Hurricanes, winners in three of their last four games.

Cam Ward stopped a season-high 45 shots to even his record at 3-3-0.

Daniel Alfredsson and Erik Karlsson lit the lamp for the Senators, who have lost three of four.

Craig Anderson made 23 saves in defeat, the third in his last four starts.

"I thought it was a well-paced game. Ward made a ton of great saves. That was the difference in the game," said Senators head coach Paul MacLean.

Karlsson opened the scoring for the Sens inside of two minutes to play in the opening period.

LaRose evened things with just over seven minutes remaining in the second, but Alfredsson gave the hosts a 2-1 edge just over three minutes later on a sharp- angle shot along the goal line to the right of Ward.

Semin forged a 2-2 deadlock on a power-play strike, cruising through the slot and one-timing an Eric Staal pass home.
