Recap: Phoenix vs. Chicago

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Patrick Kane had two goals and an assist as the Chicago Blackhawks pounded the Phoenix Coyotes, 6-2, on Thursday.

Jonathan Toews, Viktor Stalberg and Bryan Bickell each posted a goal and an assist while Patrick Sharp added three assists for the Blackhawks, who won a third straight game and have notched at least a point in all 11 games this season. Ray Emery made 22 stops in the win.

"The guys played the right way and we had real good purpose to our game," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "It was a great effort across the board. I'm pleased with every aspect of our game and the contributions from each guy."

Martin Hanzal and Raffi Torres scored for the Coyotes, who had won their previous two coming into the game. Mike Smith was pulled in the second period after giving up all six goals on 22 shots. Jason LaBarbera turned away all 11 shots he faced.

This was the first time that Torres and Marian Hossa played in the same game since last spring when Torres launched himself into the air and drilled Hossa with a shoulder to the head in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Phoenix wound up winning that series in six games, but Torres was handed a 25- game suspension that was later reduced to 21 games as he made his season debut on Feb. 4.

Chicago scored just 8:17 into the contest when Stalberg potted his third goal of the year, and Kane made it a 2-0 game at 14:52 when he put the puck in the net from the right side after a jam in front.

Less than three minutes later, Kane sent a sharp pass from the right circle to the slot, where Dave Bolland one-timed it home four his fourth of the season.

Chicago took a 4-0 lead while on the power play with 1:35 to play in the opening frame after Patrick Sharp sent a pass from the left boards over to the right side and Kane one-timed it in for his eighth of the season.

Hanzal scored off a deflection 5:19 into the second period on the power play, but Chicago got it back with 7:18 to play in the frame after Toews went in down the right wing, made a move around the defender and buried a wrister.

It was a 6-1 contest with 4:52 left in the second as Stalberg stole the puck behind the net and centered it for a one-timer by Bickell.

Torres capped the scoring with 1:25 to play with his first goal of the season.

"It was a good slap in the face right here," Phoenix coach Dave Tippett said. "We just went out there and we just got kicked. If we don't recognize that, then we've got bigger problems than I think we have got."
