Recap: Anaheim vs. Detroit

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Justin Abdelkader posted the first hat trick of his career as Detroit ended Anaheim's home winning streak with a 5-1 win on Friday.

Anaheim came into this contest having won 13 straight at home, but thanks to Abdelkader and 33 saves from Jimmy Howard, the Red Wings put an end to that run.

Abdelkader also had an assist while Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen each had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings, who have won three of four.

"First of all I think we had a really good team game," said Abdelkader. "We had a good game plan coming in. I was the beneficiary of some good plays and it was one of those games where you're getting the puck and you just want to keep shooting and trying to make plays."

Teemu Selanne had the lone goal of the game for the Ducks, who hadn't lost at home since a 5-0 loss to Vancouver on Jan. 25. Viktor Fasth was pulled early in the second period after giving up three goals on 11 shots, while Jonas Hiller made 10 saves the rest of the way.

"I wish I could have played better today and given the team a chance to win," said Fasth. "I don't think I did that and we ended up with a loss. We know they're a team that likes to pass the puck a lot. Even though we knew that, we let them do it. We weren't good enough today."

These two teams will meet again in Anaheim on Sunday.

The Ducks came out strong and took a 1-0 lead at the 11:31 mark of the first period as Kyle Palmieri skated in down the left wing and sent it over to the right where Selanne one-timed it home for his eighth of the year.

It was all Detroit from there, though.

Just over two minutes later, Abdelkader scored his first of the night as he skated into the Anaheim end down the right wing before making a power move to the front and bulling the puck in.

Skating on the power play, the Red Wings made it a 2-1 game with 5:01 to play in the first after Datsyuk tucked home the puck from the left side off a pass from Damien Brunner.

Abdelkader made it a 3-1 game 3:06 into the second period when his wrister from the right circle beat Fasth off a feed from Franzen.

That chased Fasth from the net, but Abdelkader was able to finish off his hat trick against Hiller when a turnover in the Anaheim end saw him one-timer it home for his sixth of the year.

Franzen's goal came with 4:43 to play when his centering pass hit off a Duck and snuck past Hiller.
