Recap: Edmonton vs. St. Louis

Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Jaroslov Halak posted his third shutout of the season as the St. Louis Blues blanked the Edmonton Oilers, 3-0, on Saturday.

Halak stopped 19 shots en route to his third-career shutout against the Oilers.

"It's always good to get back in action in a game, especially coming here and winning the game. It's a big win for me and for the team," Halak said. "We need to pick up our road games for sure, and we've got one more big game coming up before we go home."

Alexander Steen scored once and also had an assist, while Chris Stewart and T.J. Oshie added one goal apiece for the Blues, winners in four of their last five.

Nikolai Khabibulin made 22 saves, but allowed all three goals for Edmonton, which has been shutout in three of its last eight games.

"We're going to have to leave that behind us, that wasn't the effort we needed we really seemed out of sync and they came in here and you've got to give them credit they took it to us and we didn't play nearly the style and type of hockey that we have lately that's made us successful," Oilers center Shawn Horcoff said.

Stewart tallied the first goal 3:20 into the first period with a snap shot from just inside the blue line. Stewart took the pass from Steen near the left boards and skated into the Oilers' zone before firing the disc between Khabibulin and the near post for his 15th goal of the season.

Steen added a goal at the 17:05 mark in the third period with a snap shot, and Oshie accounted for the final margin with a backhander with 9:51 remaining.

Roman Polak centered the puck to Steen, who fired a shot wide, but cleaned up his own miss and pounded it into the back of the net.

Andy McDonald blasted a shot from the left point that bounced off the goaltender, but Oshie corralled the loose puck and backhanded it into the net for his sixth goal of the season.
