Recap: Columbus vs. San Jose

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and an assist to help the Columbus Blue Jackets take a 6-2 win over the reeling San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Nikita Nikitin, Mark Letestu, James Wisniewski, Vinny Prospal and Cody Goloubef all lit the lamp for the Blue Jackets, who scored a season-high in goals to snap a three-game losing streak. Steve Mason made 25 saves in the win.

"I think the difference between last night and tonight is that we scored goals," said Wisniewski. "We kept going, kept playing our game. Finally our hard work paid off."

Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski scored for the Sharks, who are now on a five- game losing streak after beginning the season with seven wins. Thomas Greiss gave up all six goals on 36 shots.

Columbus scored just 43 seconds into the game when Dubinsky was able to jam it in from the low left circle during a scramble in front for his first goal with the team.

The score stayed that way until the second period when Columbus scored on a power play after Derick Brassard sent a short pass from the right of the net to the slot where Wisniewski snapped a wrist shot just inside the left post at the 13:05 mark.

Just over a minute later, the Blue Jackets made it a 3-0 game on Goloubef's first NHL goal as his short slap shot sailed into the net.

San Jose, though, answered just 13 seconds later when Marleau's wrister from the top of the left circle on the rush snuck through a screen for his 10th of the season.

The Blue Jackets took a 4-1 lead just 21 seconds into the third period. Dubinsky sent a pass from the deep left boards over to the right for Matt Calvert, who then forwarded the puck to the right circle where Nikitin snapped it home for his first of the year.

Columbus then scored eight seconds apart later in the frame to tie a franchise record for two fastest goals.

The first goal came at the 5:37 mark on the power play as Nick Foligno skated around a defender who dropped his stick along the right wing and from the circle sent the puck to the left where Prospal re-directed it in.

Moments later, Letestu threw a quick shot on net that hit off the stick of a Shark and floated over Greiss for a 6-1 lead.

Pavelski scored on the power play with 1:52 to play to cap the scoring in the game.
