Recap: Chicago vs. Calgary

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Ray Emery stopped 16 shots to notch his first shutout of the season, as the Chicago Blackhawks blanked the Calgary Flames, 2-0, Tuesday at United Center.

Nick Leddy and Brent Seabrook each scored once while Patrick Kane assisted on both goals for the Blackhawks, who snapped a two-game skid.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 33-of-35 shots, but it wasn't enough to keep the Flames from dropping their franchise-record 10th straight road test.

"We got out-competed tonight, no question," Calgary captain Jarome Iginla admitted. "Everyone except (Kiprusoff)."

Chicago opened the scoring just over seven minutes in when Leddy rifled a shot from the left dot that snuck through the five-hole for a 1-0 lead at the 7:09 mark of the first.

The Blackhawks outshot the Flames 16-3 in the second stanza, but were unable to tack on until Seabrook's marker with just over two minutes left in the middle frame.

With Kane holding the puck behind the net, Seabrook skated into the right circle before taking a feed from Kane. The Chicago defenseman then ripped a shot that deflected off the stick of Iginla and knuckled past Kiprusoff to double Chicago's lead at the 17:48 mark.

Emery put the finishing touches on his 12th career shutout by stopping all seven shots he faced in the final frame.

"It was a big win for us, especially after a couple losses where we gave up a lead late or a tied game," said Kane, who extended his point streak to seven games. "It was huge to shut the door, especially in the last minutes of the [third] period and not give them anything."
