Recap: Vancouver vs. Minnesota

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo made 25 saves to backstop the streaking Vancouver Canucks to a 2-1 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild.

Kevin Bieksa and Jannik Hansen supplied the goals for the Canucks, winners of six in a row.

"We're playing well defensively, our goalies are playing outstanding for us and our system is pretty good," said Vancouver forward Alexandre Burrows.

The Canucks also continued their home dominance of the Wild, who fell to 0-9-2 in their last 11 trips to Rogers Arena.

Devin Setoguchi scored a power-play goal for Minnesota, which had won two straight. Darcy Kuemper played well in his NHL debut, stopping 28-of-30 shots.

"Pretty nervous to start, real excited, almost a numb feeling. Once warmups started and started feeling a few pucks, you just try to treat it like another game," Kuemper said.

The Wild recalled Kuemper, 22, from Houston of the American Hockey League after Josh Harding, the scheduled starter, wasn't able to play because of symptoms related to his multiple sclerosis.

Bieksa staked the Canucks to a 1-0 lead on the power play in the first period. Zack Kassian flew by Zach Parise down the right-wing boards and centered a pass Bieksa hammered home at 11:33.

Hansen doubled Vancouver's advantage 9:03 into the second period. Mason Raymond won a board battle and dragged the puck between two Minnesota players before dishing to the left circle. Keith Ballard collected the pass and sent a cross-ice feed through the legs of a Wild player to an uncovered Hansen, who roofed a shot over Kuemper.

Setoguchi lit the lamp with 6:57 remaining in the middle stanza, but the Wild couldn't connect on another man advantage in the third period.

Luongo preserved the win by making 10 saves over the final 20 minutes.

Game Notes

Luongo had blanked the Wild in each of his previous three starts, all in Vancouver ... Setoguchi's goal was his 200th career point.
