Recap: Buffalo vs. Boston

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Christian Ehrhoff netted the go-ahead goal and also added an assist in a three-goal third period that lifted the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Friday at First Niagara Center.

Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford each added a goal and an assist, while Cody Hodgson also lit the lamp to help the Sabres snap a two-game skid that started on Sunday with a 3-1 home setback against the Bruins.

"We know what he can bring," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said of Myers. "When he's skating and moving, he's a tough man to keep track of. I thought his energy in the game was maybe as good as I've seen all season."

Ryan Miller stopped 30-of-32 shots in the victory.

Dougie Hamilton registered a goal and an assist, while Rich Peverley scored once for the Bruins, who have dropped two straight.

"When you're not producing it makes it tough," Boston coach Claude Julien said of his team's struggles. "It's not so much that our lines aren't working. It's that they're not finishing."

Anton Khudobin allowed all four goals on 26 shots in the setback.

Boston led 2-1 after 40 minutes before Buffalo broke through with a trio of tallies in the final frame.

The first came just over two minutes in after a 2-on-1 rush resulted in a long rebound that a trailing Myers pounded home to knot the game at 2-2 at the 2:03 mark.

Ehrhoff then provided the go-ahead goal just under seven minutes later when Khudobin again failed to coral a rebound. The loose puck bounced to the right of the net before squirting into the slot, where Ehrhoff recovered it and rifled one past the Boston netminder for a 3-2 lead at 9:02.

Hodgson capped the flurry at the 11:45 mark when he redirected a Myers backhand feed from behind the net just inside the left post to account for the final margin.

The Sabres jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at the 3:24 mark of the first when Tyler Ennis intercepted a clearing attempt behind the Boston net and made a nice feed to Stafford in front before he beat Khudobin from in close.

Boston answered with a power-play tally with just over two minutes left in the frame, as David Krejci corralled his own rebound at the low right side of the net before sliding a feed to Hamilton, who stepped into the slot and rifled a one-timer past Miller to make it 1-1 with 2:04 remaining in the period.

Hamilton then set up the Bruins' go-ahead goal early in the second when his blast from the right point took a strange carom off the end boards and landed on the stick of Peverley in front. With Miller confused by the unlucky bounce, Peverley quickly deposited the puck into the empty net for a 2-1 edge at the 2:29 mark.

Game Notes

Hamilton's goal was the first of his career ... Stafford's goal was his first of the season ... Extra Points: Two wrongs don't make a right for Goodell

The fact that we look to Roger Goodell and the NFL to take the lead on any number of social issues should say more about us as a society than the commissioner or the league he lords over.
