Recap: Detroit vs. Anaheim

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Andrew Cogliano and Bobby Ryan scored within the first two minutes of the third period to snap a tie and send Anaheim to a 5-2 victory over Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.

Cogliano added a late empty-net score, while Matt Beleskey and Corey Perry also tallied for the Ducks, who earned their first victory in Detroit since Feb. 10, 2008.

"When they do make mistakes you have to capitalize," said Cogliano. "We made a couple of plays we were able to intercept and come the other way with."

Viktor Fasth made 26 saves for the victory, helping Anaheim snap an eight-game skid in Michigan. The 30-year-old rookie improved to 7-0-0 this season.

Tomas Tatar and Joakim Andersson produced the offense for the Red Wings, who have lost two in a row since a three-game win streak.

Jimmy Howard stopped 32 shots in defeat.

"They're playing really good hockey right now," said Howard. "They're being very opportunistic and we got a first hand look at it tonight."

Cogliano gave Anaheim a 3-2 edge only 62 seconds after the start of the third period, and Teemu Selanne's slick pass found Ryan along the left wing for a 4-2 game with 1:50 played.

The Ducks played smart defense behind their Swedish goaltender, allowing the Wings just six shots and no power-play opportunities.

Cogliano put the clincher into the empty cage with 1:49 to play.

Fasth stopped six shots and Howard 14 in a scoreless first period.

Andersson's first pro goal put the Wings on the board 3:01 into the second period, but Beleskey struck back for the Ducks 26 seconds later.

Tatar's power-play marker made it 2-1 for the hosts at 6:32, but 65 seconds after, Perry knotted the score once more.

Game Notes

Cogliano posted his first multi-goal effort since a hat trick against Phoenix on Jan. 31, 2012 ... Ryan Getzlaf added two assists for Anaheim ... Coming into the game, Detroit sported a 30-3-3 all-time record at home against Anaheim, including wins in 17 of the last 18 games dating back to November of 2002.
