Recap: Calgary vs. Los Angeles

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Jonathan Bernier posted 26 stops to help the Los Angeles Kings take a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.

Jeff Carter had a goal and an assist while Trevor Lewis and Dustin Brown also scored for the Kings, who have won four of their last five.

T.J. Brodie scored the lone goal of the game for the Flames, who have dropped three of their last four games. Joey MacDonald gave up all three goals on 33 shots in the loss.

"On Friday, we're going to be working on defensive zone coverage," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley. "We need to find a way to be a more responsible team in our own zone."

The Kings took a 1-0 lead just 6:15 in when Anze Kopitar skated behind the net from the left side to the right and sent it back to slot where Brown wristed it home for his fourth of the season.

"We had a good start and that's what we wanted," Kopitar said. "I thought our pace of play was pretty good throughout."

Calgary tied the game with 5:09 to play in the first period. Jarome Iginla sent a pass from behind the net to the high slot for Brodie, who skated down low and snapped it into the left side.

Los Angeles, though, took the lead back just 29 seconds later when Carter's wrister from the left circle was stopped, but the rebound came to the right and Lewis was able to snap it home for his first goal of the season.

After a scoreless second period that saw Bernier made seven saves and MacDonald 12, the Kings gave themselves some room when Mike Richards' pass from the right boards found Carter in the slot for a wrister home at the 9:27 mark.

Bernier posted 12 saves in the third period to help Los Angeles grab the win.
