Recap: Pittsburgh vs. NY Rangers

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Jussi Jokinen scored the lone goal in the shootout as Pittsburgh edged the New York Rangers, 2-1, in the back end of a home-and-home set from CONSOL Energy Center.

Jokinen beat Henrik Lundqvist with a trademark wrister while skating from right to left across the slot in the first round, and though two more of his new teammates failed to score, Marc-Andre Fleury turned away all three New York chances.

"I think that's my No. 1 move," Jokinen said. "I've had lots of shootouts in my career but thats the first time against Lundqvist. I just decided to try that one and I got off a pretty good shot."

Jokinen also provided the sole regulation tally for the Penguins, who avenged a 6-1 loss in Manhattan to the Rangers on Wednesday and snapped a two-game slide.

Fleury ended up with 34 saves as Pittsburgh won its 10th consecutive home game that was decided in a shootout.

"It felt good just to make some fun saves and the guys did a good job in front of me helping me out," Fleury said. "It was a fun win for us."

Rick Nash scored and Lundqvist made 26 stops for the Rangers, who had won two in a row.

In a crisply-played, but scoreless opening 20 minutes, Lundqvist made 13 saves and Fleury countered with 11.

14 combined shots in the second period also failed to find the back of the net despite more spirited action.

It took Jokinen -- acquired on Wednesday from the Hurricanes -- 30 seconds into the final period to break the scoreless deadlock, one-timing a Chris Kunitz dish home from the left circle.

Fleury appeared to have closed off a Derick Brassard shot at the left post with seconds to go on a Rangers' power play with 4:52 remaining. Though half of Fleury's body slid back across the goal line, the puck did not appear to move with him, and a review upheld the original call of no goal.

But New York tied the game, when Derek Stepan won the ensuing left-circle faceoff and Nash slid a shot between Fleury's pads.

"I thought we dominated the third," Tortorella said. "The reason why we don't win the game in the third is Fleury."
