Recap: Vancouver vs. Calgary

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Henrik Sedin scored once and had two assists and Daniel Sedin added three helpers as the Vancouver Canucks cruised to a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Alexandre Burrows had one goal and an assist, while Dan Hamhuis, Dale Weise and Alexander Edler added one goal apiece for the Canucks, who hold a four- point edge over the Minnesota Wild for the top spot in the Northwest Division standings.

Cory Schneider had 36 saves in the win.

"Hank, Danny and Burrows had some great shifts in their end and generated some scoring chances and some big goals,," Schneider said. "Our best players were our best players tonight."

Dennis Wideman and Alex Tanguay each scored once and Matt Stajan added two assists for the Flames, losers in five straight.

Miikka Kiprusoff had 17 saves in the setback.

Hamhuis scored just 34 seconds into the game. Burrows and Hamhuis got out on a 2-on-1 break. Burrows found Hamhuis with a cross-ice pass, and Hamhuis punched it into the back of the net.

Weise deflected a Garrison one-timer to give the hosts a 2-0 edge at the 6:57 mark.

Wideman got the Flames on the board with 6:11 left in the first. He took the puck down the right side, faked a shot, then ripped a wrist shot past Schneider on the far side. It was his fifth goal of the season.

Daniel Sedin's wrap around bounced off Kiprusoff's pad, but Burrows was there to clean up the miss and squeaked one under the goaltender to give Vancouver a 3-1 lead 7:24 into the middle session.

Edler added a power play goal with 27 seconds left in the second to put the Canucks up 4-1 entering the final period.

Tanguay's goal pulled Calgary within two goals near the midway point of the third.

Henrik Sedin's empty netter accounted for the final margin.

"I really believe Cory Schneider was the difference in tonight's game," Hartley said. "He made some unbelievable saves at critical times of the game," Bob Hartley said.
