Recap: Los Angeles vs. Anaheim

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Slava Voynov, Jake Muzzin and Jeff Carter scored third-period goals to lift the Los Angeles Kings over the Anaheim Ducks, 5-2, on Monday.

Voynov and Dustin Brown each had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who have won four in a row. Dustin Penner also lit the lamp.

Jonathan Quick made 24 saves for Los Angeles, which avenged a 7-4 loss to the Ducks in Anaheim on Feb. 2.

"This one feels big, it's a division game, a team that's in second place in our conference and a team that we want to eventually catch so to get two points especially in regulation and have a third strong period like that it's a big momentum booster for the club," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said.

Andrew Cogliano and Saku Koivu scored for the Ducks, who had won six straight.

Viktor Fasth, who signed a two-year extension on Feb. 20, suffered his first loss after stopping 20-of-24 shots. Fasth, who fell to 8-1-0, was trying to tie Ray Emery for the longest winning streak to start a National Hockey League career.

"Some days you have those games when it feels you can track the puck much easier," Fasth said. "Today I was fighting hard. I made some bad decisions out there. We just have to forget this and start working harder next game."

With the score tied at 2-2, Voynov put the Kings ahead at the 4:46 mark of the third period. Anze Kopitar's pass from behind the net went to Voynov, whose one-timer from the right circle snuck past Fasth.

Muzzin added a power-play goal at the 6:23 mark to give Los Angeles a 4-2 lead. Muzzin's wrist shot near the top of the right circle beat Fasth.

Carter's empty-net goal with 20.8 seconds remaining ended Anaheim's bid at a franchise-record tying seventh straight victory.

The Ducks broke a scoreless tie just 13 seconds into the second period. Ryan Getzlaf threw the puck on net from the corner and Cogliano jammed it home.

Penner's tip-in of Jarret Stoll's pass made it 1-1 at the 3:16 mark.

Koivu's power-play goal at the 5:51 mark put Anaheim back in front.

However, Brown started Los Angeles' comeback with 2:07 left in the middle stanza. Brown's snap shot from the high slot hit off the crossbar before going in.

Game Notes

The Ducks fell to 10-2-0 in February and remain a victory shy of matching the club record for wins in a single month, having notched 11 victories in March of 2006 and 2011 ... Los Angeles improved to 4-1-1 as the host this season ... The Kings won five of six versus the Ducks last season ... Kopitar had three assists ... Carter extended his goal streak to four games.

Dorm Report: Rooting for the lesser of two evils

I really do try my best not to hate anyone, seeing as how that word can be thrown around rather easily, which is why it was so tough watching the Florida State-Louisville game on Thursday night.
