Recap: Colorado vs. Edmonton

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Jordan Eberle recorded a goal and two assists to get the Edmonton Oilers back in the win column with a 4-1 victory over the lowly Colorado Avalanche.

Justin Schultz added a goal and an assist for the Oilers, whose six-game slide coming in had them on the cusp of being eliminated from playoff contention. They still trail the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference by eight points with five games to play.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall also found the back of the net, and Devan Dubnyk made 33 saves to pick up the victory.

"We were pretty pissed off losing six in a row. Nothing was going right for us, and it was nice getting back tonight," Eberle said.

P.A. Parenteau accounted for Colorado's offense while Semyon Varlamov allowed four goals on 24 shots in the loss, the club's eighth in 10 games.

"It was real tough tonight. There was just no life out there," Parenteau said. "The score doesn't lie."

Hall put the Oilers on the board 2:33 into the game when he knocked in his own rebound.

Parenteau went top shelf with a backhand off a nice feed from Shane O'Brien less than five minutes later, but Schultz re-directed Eberle's no-look shot past Varlamov with 5:46 remaining in the opening period.

Eberle continued his solid play early in the second period by dropping a pass between the circles for Nugent-Hopkins, whose wrister lit the lamp at the 5:12 mark. Nine minutes later, Eberle cashed in on a rebound, and the Oilers held on from there.

Game Notes
