Recap: Tampa Bay vs. Ottawa

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Stevan Stamkos scored the game-winning goal with 5:04 left in the final period to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.

A Sergei Gonchar penalty put the Lightning on the power play with 5:20 left. Tampa Bay got the puck into the Ottawa zone. Martin St. Louis passed the disc to Vincent Lecavalier to the right of the goal. Stamkos darted to the net and pounded home a feed from Lecavalier.

Lecavalier and Pierre-Cedric Labrie added one tally apiece, and St. Louis finished with two assists for the Lightning, who had dropped two straight entering the contest. Ben Bishop made 31 saves in his first game against his former team in the triumph.

"That was a great feeling," Bishop said. "It was nice that it was against my old team. I wanted to get the two points for the team. It's not about me versus them at all."

Daniel Alfredsson and Guillaume Latendresse both lit the lamp for Ottawa, which remains in sixth place with 44 points despite the loss.

"The penalties are the penalties," MacLean said. "They were penalties. This time of year, you have to take hits to make plays and you have to expect that you're going to get hit and you can't just retaliate and take penalties. That puts your team in a bad spot. A number of the penalties we took tonight we didn't have to. I don't think we conducted ourselves with enough discipline to stay away from the penalty trouble."

Craig Anderson made 21 saves in the setback.

Alfredsson put the Senators on the board with a tip-in with just over five minutes remaining in the first period. Kyle Turris' shot was stopped by Bishop, but Alfredsson batted the rebound out of the air and into the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Labrie notched the first goal of his NHL career 2:35 into the middle session to tie the game.

Lecavalier netted a power-play goal nearly two minutes later to put Tampa Bay up 2-1. Teddy Purcell's shot from the point was turned away by Anderson, but Lecavalier was there to clean up the rebound for his ninth goal of the season.

Latendresse's power-play goal 21 seconds into the third tied the game at 2-2.
