Recap: Los Angeles vs. Detroit

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Anze Kopitar scored with 4:48 to play to help the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

Jeff Carter scored the other goal while Jonathan Bernier stopped 32 shots for the Kings, who are on a five-game winning streak.

"I think we're putting together a pretty good streak here, and we've got to keep it going," Kopitar said.

Kyle Quincey scored the lone goal of the game for the Red Wings, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Jimmy Howard gave up both goals on 29 shots.

"I've got to give us a chance to win, but it wasn't enough," Howard said.

Detroit had held a 1-0 lead since halfway through the first period, but the team took a pair of penalties 22 seconds apart near the midway mark of the third period and the Los Angeles power play went to work.

Holding the disc in the high slot, Mike Richards sent a hard pass to the left side for Carter, who angled his stick for a re-direct between the pads of Howard with 9:34 to play.

The Kings then went ahead with 4:48 to play as Dwight King sent a pass from the right boards to Kopitar, who was uncovered at the circle and skated down to the front before tucking in a backhand for a 2-1 lead.

Bernier made the lead hold up and gave his team the win by stopping all 13 shots he faced in the third.

The only goal of the first two periods came at the 9:42 mark of the first. Quincey snapped the puck on net from the left boards and Bernier tried to glove it. However, the disc popped out of the glove and into the air before hitting off the helmet of the goalie and going into the net.
