Recap: Minnesota vs. Columbus

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 39 shots and the Blue Jackets got shootout goals from Mark Letestu and Cam Atkinson in a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Vinny Prospal and Fedor Tyutin had goals less than three minutes apart in the second period for Columbus, which has won three in a row and six of its last eight games.

Jason Pominville and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored for Minnesota, which has dropped three in a row and six of its last seven. Niklas Backstrom made 20 saves in defeat.

The result boosted Columbus' point total to 45, which is tied with Dallas and Detroit, though the Stars hold the tiebreaker now for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference thanks to two more victories.

The Wild, who hold the No. 7 seed, have 47 points. That is one behind St. Louis and two in back of San Jose. Minnesota is five points behind Vancouver for the Northwest Division lead.

Bobrovsky made a glove save on Zach Parise in the first round of the shootout, and then Letestu scored on a rising wrist shot. Mikko Koivu was denied by Bobrovsky's right pad, and Columbus sealed the outcome when Atkinson faked a move to the left side of the net before scoring on the right side.

Bouchard was credited for a goal on a puck that deflected off Columbus defenseman Jack Johnson with 4:01 left in the opening period.

Prospal scored from in front 3:53 into the second period and Tyutin gave the visitors a 2-1 lead with a successful shot from the left circle.

"You have to be consistent throughout a game to win a game," Pominville said. "I think we missed that for a little part of the second (period)."

Pominville netted the equalizer with 3:15 left in regulation on the power play. Ryan Suter's shot from the top of the left circle was stopped, but Pominville scored on the rebound off a scramble in front.

Game Notes

This was the start of a six-game road trip for Columbus, which faces Colorado on Monday ... The Wild start a three-game swing at Calgary Monday ... Columbus was 0-for-2 on the power play, while Minnesota was 1-for-4.
