Recap: Vancouver vs. San Jose

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Raffi Torres scored the game-winner 5:31 into overtime as the San Jose Sharks took a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 2 of this Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Patrick Marleau had tied the game with 55.1 seconds left in regulation and the Sharks grabbed a 2-0 series lead with the victory in the extra session.

Brent Burns blocked a left point shot in his own end and picked the puck up in the neutral zone. Skating down the right wing on a 2-on-1 break, he fed the puck over to the left wing where Torres one-timed it home for the win.

"I think it shows a lot about our team," said Torres. "We give up the lead, they were playing great. They were coming at us with everything. We showed a lot of determination, a lot of perseverance."

Joe Thornton scored in the first period while Antti Niemi made 29 saves for the sixth-seeded Sharks, who will head back home for the next two games with Game 3 set for Sunday night.

Ryan Kesler had a pair of third period goals for the third-seeded Canucks, who got an assist from each of the Sedin brothers.

"We don't want to be down, but we need to get back and put together a winning streak here," said Kesler. "We just let a late one in and that broken play on the 2-on-1 was the end."

Roberto Luongo got the starting nod again as Cory Schneider is battling through an undisclosed injury. Luongo got the loss after allowing all three goals on 30 shots.

After a scoreless second period, the Canucks tied the game just 59 seconds into the third period on the power play as Kesler's slap shot from the high slot went through a screen and past Niemi.

The Canucks then took a 2-1 lead at the 7:06 mark as Dan Boyle tried to throw a pass to Joe Pavelski at the left circle. However, Pavelski tipped it over to the slot where Kesler took the gift and blasted it home.

With time winding down in regulation and Niemi on the bench for an extra attacker, Boyle got the puck on net and it sat on the doorstep behind Luongo. Marleau tapped it in from the right side to tie the game with 55.1 to play.

The only other goal in the game came at the 13:22 mark of the first period when Thornton put in a rebound of a Burns shot.
