Recap: St. Louis vs. Los Angeles

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Barret Jackman's first career playoff goal came with 50.4 seconds to play as the St. Louis Blues took a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of this Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Patrik Berglund tied the game early in the third period to back a 28-save effort by Brian Elliott for the Blues, who now own a 2-0 lead in this best-of- seven series after consecutive 2-1 victories.

St. Louis is hoping to avenge last year's sweep at the hands of the Kings in the conference semifinals.

Dustin Brown scored the lone goal of the game for the Kings, who only lost four games total during last year's run to the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship. Jonathan Quick posted 23 saves in the loss.

This series heads back to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Saturday night.

"Four games will win this series, so we just focus on the next one, we're going home," said Brown. "We've played really well at home this year. We've got to take care of our home ice here."

With time nearing the end of regulation, Chris Stewart brought the puck in down the right side and slid a short pass over to Jackman, who snapped a wrister past the glove of Quick for a 2-1 lead -- the hosts' first and only of the game.

"You get a bounce," said Jackman. "You get a puck that you don't normally get and you put it home, and its definitely a good feeling."

LA got Quick out of the net shortly after the ensuing faceoff, but was unable to get any quality chances before time expired.

The only goal of the first period went to Los Angeles and it came on a 5-on-3 power play as a shot from the high slot by Mike Richards was tipped in by Brown halfway through the frame.

Elliott made 11 stops in the second period to keep the Kings from building on their advantage, while Quick stopped all eight shots he faced in the middle frame.

The Blues, though, finally tied the game at the 3:44 mark of the third when Alex Pietrangelo skated down the right wing and threw it on net, with Berglund tapping in the rebound.

Game Notes

St. Louis has won two of the three playoff series between these two clubs ... The Kings were 1-for-4 on the power play while the Blues failed on all four of their chances ... Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty lead all skaters in ice time, playing almost 30 minutes of the contest.
