Recap: Washington vs. Chicago

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jonathan Toews scored the lone goal of the shootout phase to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 5-4 decision over the Washington Capitals in a preseason game at Verizon Center.

Dylan Olsen tallied a goal and an assist for the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks, with Jeremy Morin, Brad Winchester and Brandon Bollig also scoring in regulation. Antti Raanta turned aside 26-of-30 shots in the victory.

Washington rallied from a 4-2 second-period deficit to force overtime on goals by Eric Fehr and Alex Ovechkin, with Ovechkin's coming on the power play 8:17 into the third period.

Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson also potted goals for the Capitals, while David Leggio stopped 16-of-17 chances in relief of Michal Neuvirth before letting up Toews' clincher in the shootout.
