Recap: Chicago vs. Washington

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Andrew Shaw potted the game-winner in overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks captured a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals in the preseason finale on Saturday for both teams.

The two squads will face off against one another again in three days, when the Blackhawks begin their Stanley Cup title defense at home in their regular- season opener against Washington.

Nick Leddy scored a pair of goals and Jimmy Hayes tallied one in the third period for Chicago, which limited the Capitals to 15 shots on goal. Nikolai Khabibulin allowed a pair of goals in the third period, however.

The Capitals, like the Blackhawks, end their preseason schedule without tallying a loss in regulation. Mikhail Grabovski, Marcus Johansson and Joel Ward each had goals in the defeat. Goaltender Braden Holtby made 32 saves.
