Recap: Carolina vs. Buffalo

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Patrick Dwyer potted the game's only goal with a short-handed tally in the second, while Cam Ward posted an 18-save shutout as the Carolina Hurricanes blanked the Buffalo Sabres, 1-0, on Friday in the final preseason game for both teams at PNC Arena.

Carolina won its final three exhibition games to finish the preseason 3-3 and will open the regular season at home on Oct. 4 against the Detroit Red Wings.

Ryan Miller stopped 29-of-30 shots in defeat for the Sabres, who wrapped up their preseason slate at 4-3 and will start the regular season on Oct. 2 with a road test against the Red Wings.
