Recap: Columbus vs. Carolina

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Nathan Gerbe scored his second goal to break a tie game with 38 seconds left, leading the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 preseason victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Gerbe scored his first goal without an assist but his game winner was helped by Jordan Staal and Patrick Dwyer. Goaltender Cam Ward was stellar in net for Carolina, stopping 25-of-26 shots.

Nikita Nikitin notched the lone goal for Columbus. Blue Jacket goalie Sergei Bobrovsky allowed both goals while saving 21-of-23 shots.
