Recap: Florida vs. Tampa Bay

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Kris Versteeg scored twice in the final 11 1/2 minutes to give the Florida Panthers a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in the final preseason test for both teams at the BB&T Center.

Versteeg added an assist on Brad Boyes' first-period goal and sealed the Panthers' victory with an empty-net tally with one minute left.

Scott Gomez and Jesse Winchester also lit the lamp for Florida, which begins regular-season play with a visit to Dallas on Thursday. Tim Thomas made 19 saves.

Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis each had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay, which squandered an early 2-0 lead. Brett Connolly netted the Lightning's other marker, with Anders Lindback stopping 17-of-21 shots between the pipes.

Tampa Bay travels to Boston Thursday for its season opener.
