Recap: Buffalo vs. Ottawa

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Erik Karlsson tallied the game-winning goal with 1:35 left to lift the Ottawa Senators to a 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

Clarke MacArthur found Karlsson with an incredible cross-ice pass and Karlsson blasted a wrister pass Ryan Miller for the game-winner.

Craig Anderson stopped all 35 shots he faced in the win.

Miller made 45 saves in the setback, Buffalo's second straight to begin the season.

Ottawa controlled the puck from the start, firing off 23 unsuccessful shots in the first period. The Sens' best scoring opportunity came early in the first as Karlsson fired a slap shot through heavy traffic, but Miller located the disc at the last second and turned it away.

The Senators also fought off four power plays throughout the contest, including a two-man disadvantage in the second session.

With the clock winding down in the final period, Zemgus Girgensons fired a shot from the right wing, but Anderson made an incredible glove save with 2:07 to play to preserve the tie.

The Senators eventually took over and MacArthur skated into the Buffalo zone. Along the left boards, he faked a backhand feed, turned, and blasted a pass across the ice to Karlsson, who was crashing the net.

Karlsson took the pass and fired a wrist shot over Miller's left leg.

Anderson held off the Sabres' offensive attack the rest of the way to seal the win.
