Recap: Edmonton vs. Phoenix

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Mikkel Boedker and Mike Ribeiro each had one goal and two assists in the Phoenix Coyotes' 6-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Radim Vrbata, Shane Doan and David Moss all had one goal and an assist for the Coyotes, who had lost four of five coming in. Keith Yandle also lit the lamp.

Mike Smith stopped 31-of-33 shots in the victory.

"Obviously after the Chicago game, we wanted to make sure we came out and played more to our identity, especially on the road," said Coyotes coach Dave Tippett. "We're starting a tough trip, we wanted to come in and play well tonight. I thought for the most part, we did a lot of good things."

David Perron scored twice for the Oilers, who started a five-game homestand on Tuesday. Devan Dubnyk turned aside 27-of-33 shots.

The Coyotes drew first blood at the 3:37 mark of the first period. While on the power play, Boedker put home a rebound following David Schlemko's shot from the high slot.

Perron tied the game at 9:51, capitalizing on a giveaway by Schlemko, who gave the puck away to Mark Arcobello. Arcobello dropped it back to Perron, who scored on a shot from between the circles.

Vrbata gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead at 6:58 of the middle stanza, scoring off a centering pass from Ribeiro. Just 58 seconds later, Doan deflected Ribeiro's shot from the point past Dubnyk.

Perron got the Oilers within one with 51.3 seconds remaining in the second stanza. While on the power play, Ales Hemsky controlled the puck behind the net before finding Perron in front.

Ribeiro found the back of the net at 4:46 of the third frame following a turnover by Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz.

Yandle made it a 5-2 game at 9:33, firing a shot over Dubnyk's shoulder from the left circle. Less than a minute later, Moss put home a rebound to account for the final margin.

"We really unraveled there in the third," said Oilers forward Taylor Hall. "Those two shifts killed us. It was a close game at one point, 3-2. We let it slip away from us. That seems to be the kind of them this year."
