Recap: Chicago vs. Anaheim

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Palmieri scored the winner in the shootout as the Anaheim Ducks took a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

In the second round, Palmieri faked to the backhand and lifted it over Antti Raanta. Patrick Kane then had his backhand stopped by Jonas Hiller to end the game and give Anaheim its fifth straight win over the Blackhawks.

"It was a little rough the past couple of shootouts so this is nice to get the extra point," said Hiller. "I got beat on the first one, but then was able to stop the next two and it feels good to help the team out."

Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist while Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who had lost three of four coming in. Hiller made 23 stops.

Kris Versteeg had a goal and an assist and Ben Smith also scored for the Blackhawks, who have dropped a season-high three straight. Raanta made 24 saves.

"We were finding ways to win close games, but the last few those bounces haven't been going our way," said Kane. "We won't overreact, though, and just work hard to get back to some wins."

Anaheim drew first blood at 3:20 of the first period as Dustin Penner skated around the net to the right before dishing it back to Getzlaf, who one-touched a pass over to his left that saw Perry wrist it in for his 17th of the season.

Chicago, though, tied the game 45 seconds later when Versteeg brought the puck in down the right wing and sent it back for Kane, who lost the puck but it went right to Smith for a wrister past Hiller.

Getzlaf gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead at 10:05 of the second while on the power play when he snapped a shot from the top of the right circle that went through a screen and in.

The Blackhawks tied the game once again at 17:48 of the second on the power play thanks to Versteeg's wrister from the slot.

After a scoreless third, Anaheim nearly won the game in overtime as Mark Fistric wrapped the puck in from the left side, but the goal was waived off as Saku Koivu had kept Raanta from making a play on the puck after getting pushed into the goaltender by Brent Seabrook.
