Recap: Montreal vs. Buffalo

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Prust and Tomas Plekanec both tallied a goal and an assist as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, at Bell Centre.

Alex Galchenyuk also lit the lamp and Travis Moen tallied two assists for Montreal. Carey Price turned aside 23 shots as the Canadiens continued their winning ways with their fifth straight victory.

"There was no intensity in the first and that is why I started the fourth line in the second and they responded 19 seconds later. They were physical, they were intense and showed some leadership," said Montreal head coach Michel Therrien.

Tyler Ennis had a goal and an assist for the Sabres and Zemgus Girgensons accounted for the team's other goal. Buffalo has now lost eight of its last nine games.

Jhonas Enroth allowed three goals on 19 shots in the defeat.

"I could've come up with one of those saves. It wasn't good enough tonight. All three were one-timers, but I think I could have stopped one of those goals," said Enroth.

After a scoreless first period, Prust got the Canadiens on the board with a wrist shot 19 seconds into the second for his third goal of the season.

Ennis took a dish from Christian Ehrhoff in the corner and blasted a shot past Price from the right circle to tie the game at 8:35 of the second.

Montreal would score two quick goals near the end of the period. Prust tracked the puck down behind the net and found Plekanec streaking towards it. Plekanec then wristed a shot past Enroth for his 11th of the season at 17:44.

Twenty-three seconds later, Galchenyuk made it 3-1. Plekanec threw a heavy hit to force a turnover and raced into the Buffalo zone, where he dished a pass back to Andrei Markov. Galchenyuk took a pass from Markov at the right of Enroth and lifted the puck over the netminder.

Girgensons made a great individual effort to get Buffalo closer just over four minutes into the third. He battled his way past P.K. Subban to cut to the front of the Montreal net and slid the puck past Price while falling to the ice.

Extra Points: Snyder and the Beltway radio wars

If contradiction was an Olympic sport, Chip Kelly would certainly be medal-worthy judging by his performance at the NFL's owners meeting but the Eagles coach might have to settle for silver because Daniel Snyder's critics will take the gold every time.

2015 PREVIEW NL EAST: It's the Nationals and everybody else

There isn't much after that. The Miami Marlins are loaded up for a playoff push -- likely through a wild card spot -- and the New York Mets are up-and- coming but still raw. The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, former powerhouses of the division, are going through rebuilds and won't contend anytime soon.
