Recap: Ottawa vs. Montreal

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Bobby Ryan had one goal and two assists to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

Marc Methot, Kyle Turris and Mark Borowiecki added one goal apiece and Clarke MacArthur finished with a pair of assists for the Senators, who have won two straight on the heels of a five-game skid. Robin Lehner made 33 saves in the win.

"We made up some valuable points. That's essentially a four-point game there and we've got a game in hand on a team that's right ahead of us, so I think the thing we'll take from tonight is that we won a divisional game but we took care of our home ice," Ryan said.

Andrei Markov had the lone goal for the Canadiens, losers in four straight. Carey Price made 20 saves in defeat.

"It's disappointing but at the same time we controlled a lot of that game tonight," Price said. "I think going forward we can build on the way we're playing. We lost two tough games recently and I thought we deserved better."

Markov opened the scoring 12:32 in with his power-play marker from the blue line. After a P.K. Subban shot was stopped, Tomas Plekanec was able to control the rebound before sending it back to Subban. Markov received a cross-ice pass from Subban and blasted the disc into the back of the net.

It was all Ottawa from there, though.

Ryan answered with a wrister from the slot just 28 seconds later. MacArthur centered a pass to Ryan, who positioned himself in between the circles before tickling the twine for his ninth goal of the season.

Methot put the Sens in front for good 11:31 into the middle stanza when he cleaned up a miss that bounced off Price.

Borowiecki scored 37 seconds later after one-timing a McArthur feed for a 3-1 Ottawa edge.

Turris' empty-netter with just over a minute remaining accounted for the final difference.
