Recap: Los Angeles vs. Buffalo

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonathan Quick recorded the 26th shutout of his career in his 300th NHL game, as the Los Angeles Kings beat the Buffalo Sabres, 2-0, on Thursday.

Quick made 19 saves for his first shutout of the season for the Kings, who improved to 10-6-0 on the season. Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar lit the lamp for the victors.

Jhonas Enroth stopped 26-of-28 shots for the Sabres, who fell to 3-14-1 on the season.

"We played well in the first period, we had some good chances to get up," Sabres coach Ron Rolston said. "We had some good looks in front of their goal but we didn't finish on them and they ended up finishing on us."

The Kings scored the only goal they would need with 35.9 seconds left in the first period. While on the power play, Jake Muzzin fired a shot from the point that Richards deflected past Enroth.

Los Angeles scored on a 4-on-3 power play just past the midway mark of the middle stanza. Kopitar received a cross-ice pass from Drew Doughty and beat Enroth from the right circle.

Buffalo, which went 0-for-4 on the power play, lost defenseman Christian Ehrhoff to a lower-body injury in the third period.

"Well it's the first time in a while that we did not give up a power-play goal or a penalty-kill goal, so that's a positive and something to build on," Quick said. "We're going to move on. We've got Vancouver on Saturday and that's the focus now."
