Recap: Winnipeg vs. St. Louis

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Shattenkirk's power-play marker with 3:02 left in regulation was the winner, as St. Louis clipped Winnipeg, 2-1, at MTS Centre.

Alex Steen also lit the lamp and Brian Elliott stopped 20 shots for the Blues, who reached the 20-win plateau by taking their seventh victory in the last 10 outings.

"Our goalie made some great saves and I think we were getting nervous when we didn't score on some opportunities, but I really like the way we fought," said Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock.

Bryan Little scored and Ondrej Pavelec made 18 saves for the Jets, who have dropped three of their last five.

I thought the game was a game that was a chess match played game early," said Jets head coach Claude Noel. "They ended up scoring a seeing eye power play goal, so what can you do?"

Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien was sent off for hooking with 3:26 to play in the third period, and the Blues wasted little time in breaking a 1-1 deadlock.

Derek Roy fed across to Shattenkirk at the left point, and his shot changed direction en route to the net and floated over Pavelec.

"Sometimes you get rewarded with a couple lucky ones and it was a great game by both teams," said Shattenkirk.

Steen opened the scoring with 4:44 gone in the second period, as his low shot from along the goal line to the left of the Winnipeg net found space through Pavelec.

Little evened the game on a power play at the three-minute mark of the third, taking an Andrew Ladd dish and scoring on a high shot from the inner edge of the right circle.

Game Notes
