Recap: Chicago vs. St. Louis

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - T.J. Oshie picked up the winner in the shootout, as St. Louis once again topped Chicago, 3-2, in the second of five meetings between these division rivals from United Center.

Alex Steen and David Backers scored in regulation for the Blues, who needed a tally late in regulation from Steen to take the first meeting on Oct. 9 in St. Louis.

"It's huge," Oshie said of beating the Blackhawks for a second time this season. "I think we played a good team game. We had a couple breakdowns, but I think for the full 65 minutes and into the shootout, I think as a team we played pretty solid."

Jay Bouwmeester picked up two assists and Jaroslav Halak finished with 27 saves.

Brandon Pirri netted his first career score and Marian Hossa added a goal for the Blackhawks, who saw their three-game win streak come to a halt.

Corey Crawford made 26 stops, but couldn't come up with the most crucial one.

After Halak stopped Patrick Kane to open the shootout, Oshie made several quick stick fakes which pulled Crawford out of position and allowed him to slam his shot home from atop the crease.

Halak then came up with saves on Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp to ice the victory.

"I think we're having a tough time finding the back of the net," Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook said. "With that being said, we have to muscle these games out. That's the mind set we have to have when we're not scoring goals."

Pirri netted the game's first goal at 9:16 of the first period, ripping home a Hossa feed from the inner edge of the left circle.

Backers evened the score for the hosts just after the midway point, tipping in a Bouwmeester shot mere seconds into a power play.

The clubs exchanged goals in a 51-second span late in the second period. First, it was Hossa giving Chicago the lead at 17:22 on a clean breakaway before Steen redirected home a Bouwmeester shot from between the circles at 18:13.

Blues defenseman Barret Jackman rang a shot off the left post, which was the best chance for either side to end the game in overtime.
