Recap: NY Islanders vs. Nashville

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Poulin stopped 32 shots to lead the New York Islanders in a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

John Tavares posted a goal and an assist while Kyle Okposo and Pierre-Marc Bouchard also scored for the Islanders, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

"I thought it was a total team effort" said New York head coach Jack Capuano. "Your best players have to be your best players. I thought the top line was good tonight."

Patric Hornqvist scored the only goal of the game for the Predators, who have dropped three straight. Marek Mazanec allowed all three goals on 33 shots in his first career start.

"We were slow to the puck all night and they did a better job winning the 1- on-1 battles," said Nashville head coach Barry Trotz said. "We're going through a tough time. We have to tighten up and put together better efforts."

New York got on the board with 4:30 to play in the first period while on the power play. Frans Nielsen one-touched a pass from the left circle to the slot, where Tavares faked a slap shot before wristing the puck into the left corner for his eighth of the season.

It was a 2-0 game two minutes later when Bouchard's snap shot from the low right circle snuck in on the short side for his fourth of the season.

The Isles took a 3-0 lead at 7:07 of the second period as Tavares' pass from the slot to the left circle was one-timed home by Okposo.

Nashville spoiled Poulin's shutout bid with 5:30 to play as David Legwand brought the puck in down the right wing and pushed it ahead for Hornqvist, who shot it in for his fifth of the season.
