Recap: Columbus vs. Vancouver

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - R.J. Umberger scored the game-winner in the third period as the Columbus Blue Jackets took a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.

Umberger and Ryan Johansen each posted a goal and an assist while Marian Gaborik also scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Curtis McElhinney stopped 37 shots in the win.

"I wanted to come in here and make an impression with these guys, leave a good impression," McElhinney said of his spot start between the pipes. "Hopefully I did that tonight."

Henrik Sedin had the lone goal of the game for the Canucks, Eddie Lack gave up two goals on 28 shots in the loss.

"He played a great game," Sedin said of Lack. "He's given us a chance to win in each of his starts. That's all you can ask from him."

With the score tied in the third period, the Blue Jackets went on top when Johansen fed the puck to Umberger behind the defense and the latter buried his chance for a 2-1 lead with 8:46 to play.

Johansen sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minute of play.

Columbus scored the only goal of the first period, when Artem Anisimov fired a turnaround shot from the right circle that was tipped in by Gaborik for a 1-0 lead at 3:27 of the frame.

Skating on the power play, the Canucks tied the contest at 10:42 of the second period. A shot from the right circle was stopped by McElhinney, but he couldn't cover up the rebound and Sedin eventually jammed it in.
