Recap: Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Erik Karlsson collected a goal and two assists and Craig Anderson posted a 27-save shutout, as the Ottawa Senators halted Pittsburgh's seven-game win streak with a 5-0 pounding of the Penguins on Monday at Canadian Tire Centre.

Bobby Ryan, Kyle Turris, Zack Smith and Cory Conacher each lit the lamp once to help the Senators snap a three-game slide.

Marc-Andre Fleury allowed all five goals on 29 shots for the Penguins, who lost forward Pascal Dupuis to a lower-body injury early in the first period after he collided with teammate Sidney Crosby.

"Dupuis is going back to Pittsburgh to be re-evaluated," Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma said. "We're hoping it's not a severe injury."

The Metropolitan Division leaders were blanked away from home for the first time since a 1-0 decision at Toronto on Feb. 1, 2012.

Smith opened the scoring just under seven minutes in when he picked up a rebound on the low right side and backhanded the disc past Fleury for a 1-0 lead at the 6:54 mark.

Ottawa added to the lead on the power play 5:46 into the second when Ryan tipped in Chris Phillips' blast from the left point to make it 2-0.

The Senators scored three times in the third to create some separation, starting with Karlsson's 10th of the season that saw him step around a defender at the Pittsburgh blue line before rifling a wrister from the right faceoff dot that sailed high over Fleury for a 3-0 lead at 1:36.

Karlsson then set up Turris' marker that made it 4-0 at 12:42 before Conacher pounded the puck home amid a scrum in front at 14:02 to account for the final margin.

Anderson capped his second whitewash of the season by stopping nine shots in the final frame.

"Everybody came to play," Anderson said. "We grinded it out and we made it hard on them. We did the things we need to do to give ourselves a chance to win the game."

Game Notes

Anderson recorded his 24th career shutout ... Pittsburgh dropped to 10-8-1 on the road this season ... Crosby had his 10-game point streak snapped ... Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin missed his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury ... Ottawa improved to 8-10-4 at home this season ... Both teams will be in action again Friday, with Ottawa visiting Boston and Pittsburgh on the road against Carolina.
