Recap: Boston vs. Anaheim

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarome Iginla scored the lone goal of the shootout to send the Boston Bruins past the Anaheim Ducks by a 3-2 count at TD Garden.

Carl Soderberg recorded his first NHL goal and Zdeno Chara tied the score late in regulation for the Bruins, who put a two-game losing streak to rest.

"I think we worked hard," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "I'd rather give my team credit for this one than say we're fortunate."

Devante Smith-Pelly and Mathieu Perreault lit the lamp for the Ducks, who lost for the first time beyond regulation this season.

Tuukka Rask and Jonas Hiller both made 21 stops in the game's first 65 minutes, but the former received some luck to pick up the victory.

Iginla scored to start the shootout's second round with a wrister, then after Anaheim's Corey Perry and Soderberg traded misses, Rask was protected by iron when Ryan Getzlaf's chance clanged off the right post to end the contest in the hosts' favor.

"You get your one point, and it's unfortunate we didn't get the second one, but you take this and you build off of it," Perry said.

Anaheim jumped out in front just 1:52 after the opening faceoff, as a three- way passing play following a Bruins turnover resulted in a score from between the circles from Smith-Pelly.

Soderberg followed up his own rebound and tucked the puck home at the right post for a 1-1 deadlock with 7:15 remaining in the second period.

The Ducks pulled ahead just 20.9 seconds before intermission, as Perreault's turnaround shot in the right circle surprised Rask.

Only eight seconds into a late-game power play, the Bruins evened the score.

Chara went to the net following a right-circle faceoff win, which resulted in Torey Krug's point shot hitting Hiller. The rebound found David Krejci, who slid it over to the Boston captain for a 2-2 game with 2:50 on the clock.

The Bruins unleashed the only four shots of overtime on Hiller, but couldn't end the contest.
