Recap: Anaheim vs. Philadelphia

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Saku Koivu set up Daniel Winnik's short- handed goal in the third period before adding an empty-netter in his 1,100th career NHL game, helping the Anaheim Ducks top the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 at Honda Center.

Ryan Getzlaf also had a goal and one assist for Anaheim, which rebounded from Tuesday's 4-2 home loss to Minnesota. Rookie Frederik Andersen made 27 saves to improve to 14-2-0 this season.

"We preach about it a lot, bouncing back after a loss," Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau said. "When I talk about losing streaks following winning streaks, you try to make it a point to not let it snowball. Not that it won't happen, but that's what we talk about."

The Flyers began a daunting three-game sojourn through California with their fifth loss in six games.

Steve Mason surrendered four goals on 27 shots in defeat.

Winnik lit the lamp at a critical moment in the game. With the Ducks clinging to a 3-2 lead, Winnik took Koivu's pass on a 2-on-1 rush and beat Mason on the glove side from the right wing at 12:26, one minute into Hampus Lindholm's high-sticking penalty.

Anaheim killed off the rest of the infraction, and Koivu hit the vacated cage with 24 seconds remaining.

Philadelphia got a goal from Michael Raffl on a shot that deflected off a stick with 10 seconds left.

The Ducks grabbed a 1-0 lead when Patrick Maroon, a former draft pick of the Flyers, got his stick on Francois Beauchemin's shot from the high slot and deflected it past Mason at 10:38 of the first period.

Vincent Lecavalier tied the game on a power play at 14:35, but the Philadelphia forward was robbed by the glove of Andersen a few minutes later.

Getzlaf redirected Lindholm's left-point shot to put Anaheim up 2-1 with 35.1 seconds to go in the opening frame.

"Obviously it changed the momentum," Philadelphia head coach Craig Berube said of the late goal. "I thought that we had really good momentum. It changed it, both ways."

Corey Perry made it 3-1 on a rush, taking Getzlaf's pass and scoring on a wrister from the slot at 10:29 of the second period.

Matt Read's deflection goal drew the Flyers within 3-2 at 5:48 of the third.
