Recap: Edmonton vs. Los Angeles

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Jeff Carter had two goals and one assist and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Sunday for their seventh straight win.

Alec Martinez and Trevor Lewis also scored and Jonathan Quick made 25 saves for Los Angeles.

The Kings hadn't won seven in a row since a nine-game streak from Jan. 21-Feb. 6, 2010, in the run-up to the Vancouver Olympics. They have now won all six of their games since returning from the Sochi Olympics break.

And they remain red-hot against the Oilers, earning at least one point in 21 of the last 22 meetings between the teams (15-1-6). They are 9-0-2 in their last 11 games in Edmonton.

"We've been playing a good team game," Martinez said.

Taylor Hall and Sam Gagner scored for the Oilers, who had a two-game winning streak snapped to finish 2-2-1 on a five-game homestand.

Ben Scrivens, with the Oilers since January, faced 50 shots in his first start against his former team and allowed all four goals. It was the second time this season the Oilers gave up at least 50 shots.

Edmonton has been out-shot 138-69 in three games against the Kings so far this season, all losses.

The Oilers gave up the first goal in each game of their five-game homestand and they were directly responsible for Carter's goal 96 seconds into this one.

Carter circled around to the right circle and sent the puck into the slot, where it went off the outside of Edmonton defenseman Philip Larsen's left skate for a 1-0 LA lead.

"A heartbreaker," said Edmonton coach Dallas Eakins. "That gets you down right away to a team I consider one of the best in the league."

Hall tied it for Edmonton just under six minutes later with his 22nd of the season. David Perron set him up on a backhand pass from the slot with his back turned to the goal.

But the Oilers were unable to best Quick again until Gagner scored 2:05 into the third period -- and only after the puck went in off Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.

Martinez gave the Kings a 2-1 lead 8:49 into the second period with a long shot that made it through traffic from the point and Carter made it 3-1 on a power play with his 24th of the season, scoring on a rebound midway through the period.

That goal snapped Edmonton's streak of 19 straight successful penalty kills.

Lewis added a goal with 4:11 left in the second on a re-directed puck.

Quick improved to 11-1-4 lifetime against the Oilers and the Kings moved to 20-0-0 when leading after two periods this season. Going back to April 2009, they are 125-1-11 taking the lead into the third.
