Recap: Calgary vs. Los Angeles

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Anze Kopitar scored the eventual winner in the third period as Los Angeles survived a late push from Calgary for a 3-2 victory.

Trevor Lewis and Justin Williams scored for the Kings, who have ripped off eight straight wins for the first time since winning nine in a row from Jan. 21-Feb. 6, 2010. Martin Jones made 24 saves in the win.

"Good way to finish off the trip. We did what we wanted," said Los Angeles head coach Darryl Sutter. "If you score three on the road you should win the hockey game."

Mike Cammalleri and Brian McGrattan scored for the Flames, who have lost their last two. Joni Ortio gave up three goals on 23 shots in the loss.

Kopitar had given the Kings a 3-0 lead at 7:01 of the third period when he re- directed a Drew Doughty shot from the right boards for his 20th goal of the season.

Calgary, though, got on the board at 15:29 on the power play as Matt Giordano's shot from the right circle was tipped in by Cammalleri, and McGrattan made it a 3-2 game with 2:22 to play on a turnaround shot from the slot.

The Flames pulled Ortio with a minute and a half to play, but was unable to net the equalizer.

"It's unfortunate because I felt that defensively we did lots of good things, but we gave two goals off of tips in front and that ends up being the difference," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley. "But once again we never quit. We pushed and we pushed and we made a decent come back."

Williams scored his 17th of the year on a tip-in from Kopitar at 4:06 of the first, and it was a 2-0 game six minutes later as Lewis put one past Ortio for his fourth of the season.
