Recap: Los Angeles vs. NY Rangers

Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Mike Richards registered a goal and an assist, as the Los Angeles Kings downed the New York Rangers, 4-1, on Friday at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Jeff Carter, Anze Kopitar and Trevor Lewis each scored once for the Kings, who finish their preseason on Saturday against Colorado before opening the regular season on Oct. 3 with a road test against Minnesota.

J.T. Miller netted the lone New York goal, while Henrik Lundqvist allowed all four goals in defeat.

The Rangers wrapped up their preseason slate at 1-5 and will began the regular season on the road on Oct. 3 against Phoenix.

Smith replaces Larson for Martinsville race

Regan Smith substituted for Kyle Larson in the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet in Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway after Larson was sidelined due to additional medical tests following his fainting spell on Saturday.
