Recap: Dallas vs. Anaheim

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Stars took care of business at American Airlines Center, winning two straight games on home ice against the Anaheim Ducks to even their Western Conference quarterfinal series at two games apiece.

Vernon Fiddler had a goal and an assist as the Stars scored four unanswered goals to claim a 4-2 victory in Game 4 on Wednesday.

Jamie Benn, Cody Eakin and Alex Goligoski also lit the lamp for Dallas, which had dropped Games 1 and 2 in Anaheim. Kari Lehtonen stopped 21-of-23 shots.

"It is obviously what we wanted," Benn said. "It wasn't fun being down 2-0, they won their home games and we won ours, the next one is going to be huge, it's going to be hard to win. They are a good team in their own barn and we want to find a way to keep this thing going."

Bryan Allen and Patrick Maroon scored for the Ducks. Frederik Andersen turned aside 21-of-25 shots before being pulled in the third period for Jonas Hiller.

Anaheim forward Teemu Selanne, who is playing his final NHL season, was a healthy scratch for Game 4. The Ducks, who lost defenseman Stephane Robidas to a fractured right leg in Game 3, were also without the services of center Ryan Getzlaf, who is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Game 5 is set for Friday at Anaheim.

"It's a best of three right now," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We fought awfully hard this year to get home ice advantage, and I think we had the second best home record in the league, so we're going home and we're going to be glad to be home."

After falling behind by two goals in the first period, the Stars started their comeback with a pair of goals in the second.

Just 27 seconds into the middle stanza, Benn won a faceoff in the neutral zone before racing up ice and beating Andersen for his third goal of the playoffs.

Fiddler tied the game at the 6:33 mark when he banked the puck off Andersen from a sharp angle.

Dallas scored two more goals in the third to complete the comeback. At the 6:22 mark, Eakin skated down the left side before beating Andersen from the left circle.

The Stars took a 4-2 lead on Goligoski's goal at 7:44. Fiddler made a nice backhand pass to Goligoski, who found the back of the net from the slot.

Benn had an empty-netter with 1:04 remaining in regulation nullified because the whistle had blown.

After failing to score on the game's first power play, the Ducks got on the board at 12:17 of the first period. Allen's slap shot from the point got past Lehtonen.

Anaheim went up 2-0 after Dallas defenseman Sergei Gonchar turned the puck over behind his own net. At the 18:16 mark, Mathieu Perreault gathered the disc and fired a shot on the net that deflected off Maroon and past Lehtonen.

2014-15 San Jose Sharks Preview

In another move that bucks tradition, the Sharks completely revamped their on- ice leadership structure not by selecting new players to wear the precious singular letters on their uniforms, but by stripping the captaincy from Joe Thornton, removing the alternate tag from Patrick Marleau and leaving the other "A" vacant after Dan Boyle signed as a free agent with the Rangers.
