Recap: Detroit vs. Boston

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarome Iginla was credited with the game- winner with 6:28 left in overtime, as the Boston Bruins scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series from Joe Louis Arena.

With just over 6 1/2 minutes left in the extra session, Dougie Hamilton threw a shot on net from just above the right circle that tipped off Iginla's stick in the circle before deflecting in off Danny DeKeyser's leg in front to give the Bruins a commanding 3-1 lead in this best-of-seven series.

"It was a pretty fortunate goal, fortunate bounce," Iginla said of his game- winner. "An ugly one, but that seems to be how a lot of those are in OT."

Boston trailed 2-0 early in the second, but Torey Krug potted a power-play goal just past the midpoint of the frame before Milan Lucic lit the lamp 1:15 into the third to tie the tilt.

Tuukka Rask turned aside 35 shots for the Presidents' Trophy winners, who will look to close out the series when they welcome the Red Wings to Boston for Game 5 on Saturday.

Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Kronwall tallied a goal and an assist apiece for Detroit, which saw No. 1 goaltender Jimmy Howard scratched just before the start of the game with the flu.

Jonas Gustavsson, making his first career playoff start, stopped 37 shots in the setback. Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg returned from a 30-game absence and recorded one shot in just over 19 1/2 minutes of ice time.

"It is steep, but we know it's tough to close out a series," Zetterberg said of the Red Wings finding themselves in a do-or-die situation heading into Game 5. "We just have to go and win a game and bring it back here."

The Red Wings entered the game 0-for-9 on the power play in the series, but wasted little time capitalizing on their initial power-play opportunity on Thursday.

After Boston's Justin Florek received a four-minute double-minor for high sticking 10:56 into the tilt, Datsyuk won the ensuing offensive zone faceoff back to the right point for Kronwall, who rifled a slapper that sailed over the glove of a screened Rask to make it 1-0 Red Wings at 11:00.

Kronwall and Datsyuk helped double Detroit's lead 4:27 into the second after Kronwall came up with a loose puck along the left boards in the Boston zone and sent the disc to the front of the net.

The centering feed was tipped in front and knuckled high in the air behind the net, where Kronwall gloved it before setting up Datsyuk's one-timer from the low right side to make it 2-0 early in the second.

Boston sliced the margin in half on the power play at 10:14 of the middle frame, as Patrice Bergeron won an offensive zone faceoff back to the right point for Krug.

With room to work, Krug skated toward the high slot before firing a heavy slapper that tipped off a defender's stick and beat Gustavsson high to the glove side to bring the Bruins within 2-1.

Lucic evened things early in the third after he chipped the puck into the Detroit zone off the right boards. Carl Soderberg won a race to the disc behind the net and quickly slid a no-look feed out front for Lucic, who pounded the puck past Gustavsson to tie the tilt at 1:15.
