Recap: NY Rangers vs. St. Louis

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Vladimir Tarasenko scored in the third round of the shootout to give the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Brian Elliott poked-checked the puck away from Rick Nash prior to Tarasenko skating in and wristing the puck into the left corner of the net past Cam Talbot for the win.

Tarasenko had a goal and an assist while Patrik Berglund and Jay Bouwmeester also scored for the Blues, who have won five straight games. Elliott made 36 saves in the win.

"It's always good getting a win on the road...in a tough building like this," Elliot said of Madison Square Garden.

Martin St. Louis scored twice and Chris Kreider added a marker for the Rangers, who have dropped three of their last four. Talbot posted 31 stops.

New York scored 5:29 in on the power play as Matt Hunwick's shot from the high slot was tipped in by Kreider for his third of the year.

Tarasenko tied the game at 7:18 of the second on the power play with a highlight-reel goal. Skating down the middle, he got past two defenders and skated to the left, reaching back to his right with one hand on the stick to backhand the puck past Talbot.

The Blues took a 2-1 lead 3:50 into the third when a Barret Jackman shot from the left point hit off the skate of Berglund and went in.

New York, though, tied the game at 6:28 when St. Louis sent the puck over the Carl Hagelin, who reversed the puck behind the net to the right side where St. Louis stuffed the puck in past Elliott, who was looking the other way.

It was a 3-2 lead for the Rangers when St. Louis tipped in a Nash pass on a rush play at 13:17, but the Blues tied the game just over a minute later when Bouwmeester lasered a wrister into the left corner.

"This is a tough one to swallow," Nash said. "We had the lead...and we (didn't) get the job done."
